Implemented Activities

No Poverty (SDG 1) – We support vulnerable communities through financial aid, food distribution, and livelihood programs to uplift them to prosperity

Donation of Sports Equipment to Slum Children
Activity Photo
To encourage children in slum areas to participate in sports and physical activities, we donated sports equipment such as cricket kits, carrom, hula hoops, skipping ropes, and badminton sets. Engaging in sports helps children develop teamwork, discipline, and confidence, contributing to their overall well-being. These activities also provide a constructive outlet for energy and a healthy break from daily challenges. Our initiative aims to nurture their physical health while fostering a sense of joy, community, and empowerment.

Providing Essential School Supplies to Underprivileged Students
Activity Photo
Many children in slum areas face financial barriers that prevent them from continuing their education. To address this, we donated essential school items, including uniforms, stationery, and sports uniforms, to ensure they had the resources they needed to attend school regularly. By equipping them with the necessary supplies, we aim to reduce dropout rates and inspire a stronger commitment to learning. This initiative not only supports their academic growth but also instills hope and motivation for a brighter future.

Launch of ‘Manavta Ni Diwali’ – A Diwali (festival of light) Donation Initiative
Activity Photo
During Diwali, we introduced a special initiative called "Manavta Ni Diwali," or Diwali of Humanity, near Jubeli Ground, Bhuj city, where individuals could donate their extra clothes, household items, and other necessities. The donated items were then made available to those in need, ensuring that no one had to celebrate the festival in lack.

Empowering Slum Residents through Diwali Entrepreneurship
Activity Photo
During the Diwali festival, Jethwa Foundation supported slum residents in starting small businesses by providing materials to sell rangolis, colours, and decorative items. This initiative empowered them financially and encouraged self-reliance. It also helped promote a spirit of entrepreneurship within the community, enabling families to generate income during the festive season. By supporting local livelihoods, we aimed to bring both economic upliftment and festive joy to underprivileged households.

Zero Hunger (SDG 2) – Our food security initiatives provide meals and nutritional support to underserved populations

Nutritional Support for Pregnant Women
Activity Photo
Recognising the vital role of proper nutrition during pregnancy, we distributed nutritious food such as Sukhadi (a local nutritious flour-jaggery-ghee cakes) to pregnant women living in slum areas. In addition to food, we provided bedding to enhance their comfort and overall well-being. This initiative aimed to promote healthier pregnancies and minimize risks associated with inadequate maternal care. By addressing both nutritional and physical needs, we are committed to supporting expectant mothers and ensuring a healthier start for their newborn children during the crucial phase of life.

Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) – We provide healthcare resources, and promote mental health awareness

Providing Beddings to Elderly and Poor Individuals
Activity Photo
To support elderly individuals living in slum areas, we distributed bedding to ensure they have a warm and comfortable place to sleep, especially during the cold winter months. This initiative aimed to shield them from harsh weather conditions and enhance their overall quality of life. By addressing such fundamental needs, we endeavored to bring not just physical comfort but also a sense of dignity, compassion, and belonging to one of the most vulnerable and often overlooked segments of society.

Safety Measures for Padayatries of Matanomadh
Activity Photo
Thousands of Padyatris (pilgrims) walk to Mata No Madh (Deity’s temple) every year, often traveling long distances on foot, including during the night and early hours in the dark. This increases their vulnerability to road accidents due to low visibility. To enhance their safety, we provided radium stickers for their backs or bag packs, making them easily visible to motorists and other vehicle drivers. This small yet impactful initiative played a crucial role in preventing accidents and ensuring a safer journey for the pilgrims.

Free Rides for Slum Children during Yax Mela (local fair) at Madhapar
Activity Photo
To bring joy and happiness to underprivileged children, we arranged free rides for them at the Yax Mela in Madhapar, addressing their right to play. This initiative offered the children a chance to experience fun and excitement—something many of them rarely enjoy. By giving them a day filled with laughter and new experiences, we aimed to create cherished memories and a sense of inclusion during the festive celebration.

Quality Education (SDG 4) – We empower underprivileged children and youth through scholarships, skill development programs, and access to learning resources

Sponsoring a Teacher’s Salary at RTO Hindi Medium School No 14, Bhuj city
Activity Photo
RTO Hindi Medium School in Bhuj, serving 350 students from slum areas, has been grappling with a severe shortage of teaching staff—only two teachers and one principal managing the entire student body as well as the school administration. To help alleviate this burden and improve the quality of education, Jethwa Foundation committed to sponsoring the salary of one additional teacher during 2024-2025. This support aims to reduce the high student-teacher ratio (for example 1 teacher to 200 students), enhance learning outcomes, and provide a more supportive and effective educational environment for the underserved children.

Collaboration with School Principals to Encourage Girls' Education
Activity Photo
Our team met with school principals and successfully convinced them to visit slum areas to interact with the families. These visits played a crucial role in spreading awareness about the importance of girls' education, breaking down cultural and social barriers that often hinder their enrollment in school. As a result, there was a noticeable increase in school enrollments among the girls, empowering them with the opportunity to learn and build a better future. This initiative not only promoted education but also fostered a stronger sense of community engagement and support for gender equality.

Gender Equality (SDG 5) – We work towards empowering women and girls through education, vocational training, and advocacy programs

Counselling and Motivating Girls for School Enrolment
Activity Photo
Through our counselling sessions, with the support of the school principal, we motivated the women and men to continue their girls’ education. Our team worked closely with the girls and their parents to help them overcome societal and financial barriers, ensuring that these obstacles did not prevent them from securing a place in school.

Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) – Our projects promote renewable energy solutions and energy-efficient practices for underserved communities

Donation of Renewable Energy Kits (Solar Panels) to Widows
Activity Photo
To promote sustainable living and reduce dependency on conventional electricity, we donated two renewable energy kits consisting of solar panels to widows living at Kharsra Ground slum area and Leva Patel slum area in Bhuj. This helped them access reliable energy for basic household needs and increase their self-reliance and reduce their expenses.

Disaster Response

The devastating Biparjoy cyclone displaced many families, leaving them without shelter and basic necessities. Jethwa Foundation stepped in to support those affected, particularly individuals living in the slum area near Yax Mandir in Madhapar village. We helped them find safe shelter during the cyclone, assisted in reconstructing their damaged huts, and provided essential food supplies. Our swift and compassionate response ensured that families had a roof over their heads and the sustenance they needed to survive and recover during this challenging time.

Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) – We ensure sanitation facilities, and hygiene awareness programs

Working Towards Portable Toilets in Slum Areas: Lack of sanitation facilities remains a major concern in slum communities. Jethwa Foundation has started working towards the design of portable toilets (yet to be implemented) to improve hygiene and sanitation in these areas, ensuring better health and safety for residents.

Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) – We advocate eco–friendly urban development and community-based solutions for sustainable living

Donation of Two Folding Shelters to Widows
Activity Photo
Two widows, one each from Kharsara ground and Leva Patel slum areas in Bhuj city who were struggling with unstable tarpaulin shelters were provided with sturdy, folding shelters to ensure they had a safe and secure place to live. This initiative improved their living conditions and gave them a sense of dignity. (The idea of folding shelters, which can be assembled and disassembled within an hour, was introduced considering the migratory nature of the community and lack of land ownership).

Encouraging Portable Housing Solutions: We actively motivated people living in temporary tarpaulin huts to consider building portable houses. By educating them about cost-effective and sustainable housing solutions, we aimed to improve their quality of life and provide them with long-term stability.

Strengthening Community Relationships through Leadership Visits
Activity Photo
The president, founder, and key promoters of Jethwa Foundation personally visited slum areas to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by residents. These visits allowed our leadership team to connect directly with the community, listen to their concerns, and witness their living conditions firsthand. This hands-on approach not only helped us build trust and transparency but also enabled us to design and implement solutions that are genuinely responsive to the community’s unique needs.

Funding

The main source of our funding is the donation by Jethwa Foundation’s promoters and founders.

Work is done through promoting internship and voluntarism as well.
